March 20, 2025
Saint Mary’s Regional Health System is proud to announce the recipients of the first quarter DAISY Awards, recognizing excellence in nursing care and leadership. These awards honor nurses who demonstrate extraordinary clinical skill, compassion, and dedication to patients, families, and their colleagues.
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses celebrates nurses who consistently go above and beyond in delivering compassionate care at the bedside. The DAISY Nurse Leader Award recognizes nurse leaders who create an environment of compassion and support for both their teams and patients. Additionally, the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a nurse whose career reflects a sustained commitment to the nursing profession and lifelong impact on patient care.
Saint Mary’s is pleased to recognize the following outstanding honorees for the first quarter: Carolyn DeSalvo, RN, recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses; Jennifer Haney, RN, recipient of the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award; and Kelcie Heflin, RN, recipient of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
In addition to these recipients, several other outstanding nurses were nominated by colleagues and patients for their remarkable dedication, professionalism, and compassion. We are proud to recognize the following nominees: Kaitlyn Stewart and Jessica Bowden from the Emergency Department; Jane Goodman, Tina Smith, Edith Magdaleno, Claire Chambless and Drew Woodard from the Women’s and Children’s unit.
“These awards are a powerful reminder of the heart and humanity at the center of nursing,” said Carolyn Cook, Chief Nursing Officer at Saint Mary’s. “Our nurses are more than caregivers—they are leaders, healers, and advocates for every patient they serve. We are honored to celebrate their contributions through the DAISY Award program.”
The DAISY Awards are part of the DAISY Foundation’s international recognition program, created to celebrate the extraordinary difference nurses make in the lives of patients and families every day.
